Dear Neighbors,
The IH 35E frontage Road one-way conversion has gone well, and I appreciate your help in informing the public. On Sunday, June 1st, we will be directing southbound traffic to the new southbound lanes. The switch will begin at 9:00 PM and should be complete before rush hour. Southbound IH 35E will be reduced to one lane during this time but significant delays are not expected.
On Friday, June 6th, northbound IH 35E traffic will be switched over to the center detour allowing reconstruction of the northbound lanes to begin. The traffic switch will begin 10:00 PM; northbound IH 35E will be reduced to one lane to facilitate construction of temporary ramps. During the switch, northbound ramps will not be available between US 77 and Belt Line Road. The traffic switch and ramp work will be prosecuted continuously, and it is anticipated that the switch will be complete by Monday morning rush-hour. Motorists are advised to use IH 45, US 287, or SH 342 as alternate routes.
The speed limit for the northbound lanes will be signed at 55 mph as vehicles will be driving in tight conditions between concrete traffic barriers. Motorists are reminded to drive defensively and to be aware of traffic control devices and personnel in construction work zones.
Sincerely,
Bill Pierce, P.E.
