Place 2

Christy Godwin
Councilmember, Place 2

Christy Godwin was raised in various cities in Texas, but no particular city has been called home until now. After spending 20 years on active duty in the Army, she and her family have put in roots and are proud to call Oak Leaf home.

Christy began her career in the Army in the field of logistics. After several successful duty assignments, she followed her passion as a Special Agent for the Army Criminal Investigation Command. She is trained in executive personal protection, child abuse prevention interviewing techniques, crime scene processing, evidence preservation and custody and hostage negotiations. She was certified in child forensic interviews and focused her career on helping others during their worst days. Christy’s duty assignments include Korea, Texas, Kuwait, Colorado, North Carolina, and the Military District of Washington (D.C.). She retired in 2015 as a Chief Warrant Officer Two.

Christy met her San Antonio native husband, Scott, while in Korea in 1995, and they have been together ever since. They have been married for 18 years. They have an eleven year old daughter who attends school in the ROISD.

Although embracing her retirement, she remains just as busy devoting her time and attention to their daughter, PTA, volunteering, and Red Oak FFA. She’s also an active hunter and enjoys teaching their daughter about guns and gun safety. Scott and Christy bought their home in Oak Leaf in 2014.

Christy was elected to City Council on May 6, 2017.
