Sec. 5.401Β General
New and existing buildings shall have address numbers posted in numeral form and be metal or other weatherproof material. These numbers shall contrast with their background. Address numbers shall be Arabic numerals or alphabet letters. Numbers shall be a minimum of four (4) inches in height with a minimum stroke width of one-half (0.5) inch.
Sec. 5.402Β Placement of Numbers
(a)Β The address numbers shall be placed in a location clearly visible from the public street or roadway fronting the property.
(b)Β Address numbers shall also be placed on both sides of a U.S. mailbox located near the curb directly in front of the property or on a freestanding structure. The numbers shall be a minimum of three (3) inches in height with a minimum stroke width of one-half (0.5) inch. The numbers shall be reflective and be a contrasting color for the surface to which it is attached.
(c)Β For single-family residences which do not have a street frontage or have a setback in excess of fifty (50) feet from the public roadway, the house numbers may be placed on the gate or fence where the driveway enters the road.
Sec. 5.403Β Duty to Affix Numbers
(a)Β It shall be the duty of each owner, agent of the owner or the occupant of any building or structure presently located in the city to affix numbers in compliance with the requirements of this article within thirty (30) days of written notification by the city.
(b)Β The owner, occupant or person in control of the property shall be responsible for assuring that the view of the number is not obstructed by vegetation, another structure or any other means under their direct control.
(c)Β These requirements shall be applicable to all residences existing or hereafter constructed.
(d)Β Any person owning, leasing, occupying or maintaining any house, building or structure which has no number displayed thereon, which displays an incorrect number, or violates this article, when so informed and notified by the city shall put up a number, shall change the incorrect number so that the proper number will be displayed, or shall take any necessary action to comply, within thirty (30) days after the date of notice.
